Co-Sponsors Needed for HD 2782/SB 311

Posted on 1/16/2015 in State Action Alert

On January 16, 2015 the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners along with the Massachusetts Association of Nurse Anesthetists filed An Act to Remove the Restrictions on the Licenses of NPs and CRNAs as Recommended by the Institute of Medicine and the Federal Trade Commission (HD 2782/SD 311).

This will be our second filing of legislation to modernize the statutes for Massachusetts advanced practice nurses. With the same goal as our last bill, this legislation will allow NPs and CRNAs to practice to the full extent of their education and training.

These changes are consistent with the recommendations cited in the Institute of Medicine's Future of Nursing Report and supported by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, the Federal Trade Commission, as well as numerous other specialty organizations and businesses.

We have continued support from Representative Kay Khan, Representative Paul Donato and Senator Marc Pacheco, who will serve as our bill sponsors in the House and Senate respectively. But, we also need your legislators to sign on as co-sponsors.

Please take a moment to reach out to your State Representative and State Senator and ask them to co-sponsor this bill!

Lawmakers only have until January 30th to do this, so they need to hear from you NOW!
