MCNP SAVE Bill Referred to Joint Committee on Public Health

Posted on 3/10/2019 in State Legislative News

This week, both the House and Senate versions of our bill have been assigned their bill numbers for the session (H.1867 and S.1330) and have been referred to the Joint Committee on Public Health (JCPH).

As the JCPH works to establish their rules for the session and review their assigned bills, we can anticipate notice of a date for our public hearing to be held some time in the coming months. We don't have control over when this will be, and if similar to our last 3 bill filings which had November hearings, it may not be until later this Fall. Since we cannot predict this, we are already starting preparation for our testimony before the JCPH so that we are ready.

In addition, we are working with our lobbying team to solidify support with key legislators and are in the preliminary stages of a grassroots campaign to have MCNP members reach out and establish relationships with newly elected members of the House and Senate. If you are a constituent of one of these legislators, we may be contacting you to enlist your help.

While there is no specific action required at this time, we ask that you go to the Massachusetts legislature website and confirm the names of your state representative and state senator:

If you click on their Biography, you will be able to learn more about them and determine if they are new to the legislature.

Thank you for your engagement.
