House Passes Health Care Bill with FPA Language

Posted on 7/30/2020 in MCNP News

We are thrilled to report that last evening, the Massachusetts House passed their health care bill, H. 4888, renamed as An Act to Promote Resilience in Our Health Care System which retained our language for Full Practice Authority after a 2 year period of supervised prescriptive practice.

This is a huge victory for NPs and the patients we serve across the Commonwealth.

Since the House and Senate have each passed different healthcare bills, they will need to be reconciled in conference committee before they can be passed by the Legislature and sent to the Governor for his approval - so there is still work ahead.

While the Legislature is scheduled to conclude its formal session at midnight on Friday, July 31st , because of COVID we anticipate that they will modify their rules to allow for continuing the session into the Fall and possibly until the end of 2020.

It is not clear at this point when the conference committee assignments will be made or when they will convene to work on the bill, but we will provide updates as they become available.

A HUGE THANK YOU to the MCNP Leadership team, lobbying team and all of you who have remained engaged, supported our efforts and sent more than 1,000 emails over the past week!

We are almost there!
