MCNP congratulates two of our members who have been recognized by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Allison Kilcoyne has been awarded the 2019 AANP NP State Award for Excellence. This award is given annually to an individual NP in each state who has demonstrated excellence in NP practice. Allison is a family nurse practitioner and as a nationally recognized school-based health leader, has made significant contributions to improve the health of adolescents in the North Shore region of MA. Her passion is to integrate school-based health into the wider health care system and underline the value of engaging children and adolescents in their health. She continually adapts her practice to meet the needs of her most vulnerable patients and has recognized the importance of social determinants of health and making behavioral health services available for students. Allison is the NP at The Student Health Center at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the national School-Based Health Alliance and is also a founding member and current President of the MA School Based Health Alliance.

Catherine McKinnon has been awarded the 2019 AANP Massachusetts State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate Excellence. This award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of the NP role.  Cathy is an adult nurse practitioner and has been as an active volunteer for the MCNP for more than 25 years. She currently sits on the Board of Directors and as the MCNP web editor created the communications infrastructure that has contributed to the growth of the MCNP as the state based professional organization for Massachusetts Nurse Practitioners. Cathy is the current Co-Chair of the MCNP Legislative Committee and has helped lead grassroots advocacy efforts to advance the legislative agenda of the organization including ongoing efforts to pass legislation for Full Practice Authority.

Along with recipients from other states across the country, Allison and Cathy will
be honored at an awards ceremony and reception held during the AANP 2019 National Conference, June 18-23, 2019 in Indianapolis
