MCNP Annual Conference Update

Posted on 5/5/2018 in MCNP News

MCNP held its annual educational conference in New Hampshire on May 2-4th, 2018. It was a very successful event with more than 450 nurse practitioners from the Northeast region in attendance.

After working together for the past 25 years, MCNP and the New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner Association have made the decision to sponsor individual rather than a combined conference moving forward. This decision was made after extensive deliberation, was amicable and based on shifting priorities of each organization. We thank all of the members of the NHNPA who helped make our past conferences so successful and wish them much success in the future.

Our newly named New England Regional Nurse Practitioner Conference will be held next year, May 1-3, 2019 at the Newton Marriott in Newton, MA. Conference planning will be led by the MCNP Education Committee chaired by Barbara Rosato and supported by our longstanding conference organizer, Boston College Connell School of Nursing.

MCNP Annual Elections

MCNP elections for Open Officer positions were held at the annual business meeting at the NE Regional NP Conference on 5/3/18. We are excited to have
Kimberly Daly, DNP join the Board as the new MCNP Vice-President.

Kim is a family nurse practitioner who works as the Associate Director of Counseling and Health Services at Salem State University. She has been very active in legislative efforts surrounding the PATCH bill (Patient Access to Confidential Health Care) and is the President-Elect of the New England College Health Association.

MCNP thanks to Erin Tetler who was elected to another term as Recording Secretary and to
outgoing Vice- President Andrea Thurler who will be leading other MCNP regional initiatives and continue her work with the MCNP Legislative Committee.

Change in MCNP Organizational Support
After more than 12 years of working for the MCNP, Peg Carlson will be formally retiring on September 1st. Peg has been the face of the MCNP for years and for those who have worked with her when planning programs, she has been a tremendous support to the regions. Peg has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help the MCNP run smoothly, and we wish her and her family many years of happiness as she begins her retirement.

MCNP is pleased to announce that we have hired our first Director of Operations who will be assuming the responsibilities of Peg and Catherine McKinnon, our current web editor. We welcome Stacy Nahas who will be transitioning into her role over the next several months.
