Call for Nominations for Open MCNP Officer Positions

Posted on 3/18/2021

Dear Colleague,

It is an exciting time for the MCNP as we continue to celebrate the passage of Full Practice Authority for Nurse Practitioners in Massachusetts.

I am in the last months of my second and final term as your MCNP President.  It has been a great honor and the highlight of my career to serve in this role.  I am forever grateful to our volunteer NPs at the MCNP who have dedicated time and talent to move our agenda forward.  I am equally inspired by you, one of the NPs in MA who provided tender, innovative, and exceptional care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today we announce our upcoming annual officer elections, and I urge you to answer this call to service.  Maybe you are interested in an NP leadership position or maybe you want to join one of our committees?  We are looking for thoughtful and curious NPs from diverse backgrounds, with any level of experience, to engage with us as we forge ahead towards advancing our profession.

The personal and professional rewards of this type of service are countless.  In addition to the networking, mentoring, and leadership opportunities, you will help influence the future roles of MA NPs in our ever-changing health care landscape.

Details about the officer positions on the 2021 ballot are listed below, and I encourage you to answer the call to serve for what I know will be a rich and rewarding experience.

Best Regards,

Chris Malagrida, NP
MCNP President

MCNP Elections 2021

The offices of President, Treasurer, and Corresponding Secretary are on the election ballot this year.

Voting will take place during a Special Meeting for current members of the MCNP which will be held virtually and open from 4/12/21 to 4/26/21.

Officers are voting members of the Executive Committee and help define MCNP business decisions, legislative activities and organizational direction. Serving a 2-year term, officer responsibilities include participating in conference calls and executive committee meetings which are typically no more than once per month, helping lead MCNP initiatives and attending MCNP leadership and legislative events.

Current MCNP President-Elect, Laura Black, is on the ballot for MCNP President.

The offices of Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary are open.

The Treasurer works closely with the MCNP Executive Director and Director of Finance in overseeing the financial operations of the organization and assists with budget preparation.

The Corresponding Secretary assists the MCNP President and other members of the MCNP Executive Committee in responding to requests for information from MCNP members as well as outside individuals/agents/organizations.
Nominees for Officer positions must be current MCNP members.

If you would like more detailed information about the responsibilities and time commitment involved with any of the positions on the ballot for this year or volunteer opportunities on our Membership, Legislative, Research, Awards or Education Committees, please email Catherine McKinnon, MCNP Executive Director at: c.mckinnon@mcnpweb.org
