Message from Incoming MCNP President
Posted on 2/18/2026

To the Members Current and Future of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners,
It is with great excitement that I send my first message to you as the new President of the MCNP. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help to lead this organization at such a critical time for our role and professional identity.
For those whom I have not yet had the opportunity to meet, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Chris Reeves, and I am a proud nurse and nurse practitioner within the Commonwealth. My career as a nurse began at Boston Children’s Hospital as a staff nurse in the emergency department. After completing my graduate education as an adult–gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, I completed a residency in trauma surgery and critical care at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Upon returning to Massachusetts following that year of training, I established my advanced practice in neurocritical care, where I continue to see patients today.
My current full-time work is in professional development and education within a hospital system, where I focus on addressing the unique needs of advanced practice nurses. This professional space exists at the exciting intersection of education, coaching, and advocacy for the profession, and I look forward to expanding on the scope of this work to serve the members of the MCNP.
Over the next two years of my tenure, I look forward to continuing to build and deepen our community of APRNs across the entire state. My work as president, alongside the legislative committee, will focus on diligently identifying and addressing barriers through regulatory and legislative action. Even more, I am deeply committed to empowering each and every one of our members, regardless of years of practice, to recognize themselves as the incredible professionals we as NPs are. Together, we will work to uphold a culture where we collectively hold one another to the highest professional standards.
In addition to my new role as President, I am excited to announce the addition of three new board members, all of whom bring incredible talent and insight to our organization. We welcome Elena Freydin, DNP, ANP-BC, MBA , Mariyan Montaque, DNP, FNP- BC, and Kristine Pereira-View, DNP, APRN, PPCNP-BC, PMHS. Dr. Freydin currently serves as the Chief Compliance Officer for the Lynn Community Health Center and will serve as the Region III Director, representing the North Shore and Merrimack Valley. Dr. Montaque brings with her tremendous experience as an FNP practicing across a variety of settings, including specialty practice within hospital systems, primary care in rural settings, as well as teaching and academia. She will serve our organization as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dr. Pereira-View currently serves as the Advanced Practice Nursing Director for Psychiatric and Emergency Services at Boston Children’s Hospital and is also a commissioner on the City of Cambridge Commission on the Status of Women. As a Director at Large, Kristine will provide invaluable perspectives related to pediatric and behavioral health populations.
And lastly, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our outgoing President, Laura Black. Over the past year, Laura has been an exceptional mentor to me in my role as President-Elect. Her steady leadership, deep commitment to nurse practitioners across the Commonwealth, and thoughtful guidance have positioned MCNP for continued growth and impact. I am grateful for her partnership and am pleased that she will continue serving on the Board as Immediate Past President this year, where her experience and insight will remain invaluable to our work.
Please join me in thanking Laura and welcoming our new Directors as they join our already fantastic board. We look forward to seeing you at our New England Regional Conference in May and making real-life introductions.
With commitment to community and connection,
Chris Reeves, MSN, CNP, NPD-BC
President, Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners
